The Heavy Heavy comes to us from across the pond, from Brighton, England, and is Will Turner and Georgie Fuller, a duo that set out to make a records like the records they loved best. Reverb-y and sun-drenched, their songs evoke a groovy, colorful era of music, a time when optimism was in vogue and bell bottoms and Nehru collars were the hippest. The band’s ethos is simple, as Georgie explains. “The driving force behind all our songwriting is to feel good, and to make other people feel good too.” And their choice to cover David Crosby’s Guinevere is a chill-bumpy, reverent uptake of that beloved 1960s nugget serves to fulfill that vow. Will and Georgie’s gorgeous harmonies elevate an already-high song. The beauty of The Heavy Heavy’s music cannot be understated. Lovely and far-out, it’s a journey to a land with tangerine trees and marmalade skies.
